Words have the power to change lives and open minds. Join us for the Voice2Verse Poetry Slam & Open Mic. Through the power of spoken word, DMV youth will use their voices to help bring awareness to the issues of Teen Dating Violence (TDV) and Mental Health. Slam participants will be eligible to win a micro-scholarship. Poets, singers, rappers, and musicians also invited to lend their talents to the cause.
How can I be a Slam participant?
No fee to enter as a Slam participant! Youth ages 13-19 are welcomed to enter and should contact email@example.com as soon as possible with their interest. Youth ages 13-19 must register using the registration form below no later than 11:59pm on April 25, 2018 to participate in Slam. All participants must submit a signed Consent & Liability Form (located to the right). It can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
3 hours of community service hours will be confirmed for all youth participating.

How can I be a Community Champion?
Attend the event! A minimum $5 donation suggested at the door for all guests. Enjoy an evening of creative art for a cause and cast your vote!
How will the Slam work?
Slam participants (ages 13-19 years old) will have up to 3 minutes to perform a spoken word piece on the topic of Teen Dating Violence and or Mental Health. Attendees will connect, network, and most importantly, cast their vote on the Slam performance for which a micro-scholarship will be awarded. At the end of the evening, ballots will be tallied and the youth with the most votes, is awarded a micro-scholarship, made up of the donations from you, our community champions, made at the door. The micro-scholarship is made on-the-spot!
How will the Open Mic work?
Open mic portion of the evening is open to guests of all ages! Stand with DMV youth and share your spoken word pieces, vocal performances, instrumental performances, rap performances, etc. for the cause. Sign up at the door upon arrival. First come First Serve as time allows. No foul language and or vulgarity please.
